Thought I’d share this little gem with you guys.  SE Scout is a tool to check your SERP rankings over time.  You enter in your URL/Keyword and it shows you via a pretty organized and easy to use layout your rankings, your ranking changes (+ or -), your # of backlinks and a few other things.  This is what it will look like:

I’ve blanked out my keywords/URL on the left side for obvious reasons but this is what yours will look like.  Now if you click on any of the rows you will be presented with a graphical representation over time of your rankings and your backlinks of you so choose.  It also separates out Bing vs Google.  Here’s a screen of what you’ll see:

You can do this with every keyword you have and it is quite nice

Why check your SERPs?

Checking your SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Position) is going to be very critical in your quest for backlinking and ranking dominance.  With this you can visually see the affect of what a certain backlinking strategy is giving you.  Let’s say you’ve had a site sitting at position #7 for a few weeks and you want to see if you can increase it.  You order 30 high PR blog comments and wait a bit.  a week or so later you see an increase to ranking #3 and while you can’t PROVE that this DIRECTLY caused this increase because ranking is a pretty hard thing to laser target, you can start to assume and make a theory that this amount of blog comments allowed for this much movement over this amount of time with this competition.  Once you have that down you can then try this same thing with your other sites and see how they move and come up with a more tested theory of what 30 high PR blog comments will do.

Personally that is why I check SERPs other than it’s easy to check where all my sites are at at a quick glance without going into google and typing in every site and looking for it.

How Much $$?

The free version is very useful for the newbie starting out, you wont need the paid version unless you’re seriously getting into some internet marketing.  The images above are of the free version I use.  You get to track a total of 10 keywords, which works great for me.

They have a wide range of prices if you plan to jump to the paid version and those can be found here https://users.sescout.com/plans

There you go guys, hopefully if you’re in this game you are using tools like this to learn backlinking theory and find out how to get your sites to #1.
